“Volume and open feel bass tones”
With conventional planar magnetic models, amplitude is an increasing low range, and since the diaphragm comes into contact with magnets, it was necessary to raise the frequency of bass tones to a level that the driver unit can reproduce. To make up for the lack of bass tones, the inside of the earpads have been tightly sealed, and the front section of the diaphragm has been made a closed space.

This is the same principle as earphones with sealed earpieces being able to reproduce bass frequncies despite their small size. By sealing the inner earpads, it is possible to produce bass tones across low frequency bands; these become the bass tones produced within a sealed space the same as earphones.

With D8000, the problem with the diaphragm coming into contact with magnets has been solved through AFDS (Air Film Damping System), and it has become possible to reduce the frequency of the bass tones
that the driver unit can reproduce. Combined with breatheable earpads, bass tone reproduction with a volume
and open sound only achievable with superior dynamic models is possible.

“Subtle high frequencies”
In reproducing subtle high frequencies, the lightweight nature of the diaphragm comes before anything else. Compared to other dynamic models with the same diameter, D8000's diaphragm is 1/3 lighter. A super thin aluminum coil has been etched on the extremely lightweight film diaphragm, and as such, the adhesive essential for use between the coil and the diaphragm of dynamic models - which has a very negative effect
on sound quality - is not necessary. This is an important part, packed with know-how. With D8000, this
problem is solved theoretically, and reproduction of subtle high frequencies has been achieved.

Newly-developed AFDS: Air Film Damping System
With conventional planar magnetic models, amplitude was an increasing low range, and the diaphragm came into contact with magnets. To solve this problem, we took measurements by conducting diaphragm simulations using the finite element method and laser Doppler devices numerous times, and estabished
new diaphragm braking technology known as AFDS - Air Film Damping System.

In doing so, the shortcoming of planar magnetic models - the low reproducibility of bass tones - was solved. This technology could be considered a reinvention of planar magnetic models.

With D8000, the problem with the diaphragm coming into contact with magnets has been solved through AFDS (Air Film Damping System), and it has become possible to reduce the frequency of the bass tones
that the driver unit can reproduce. Combined with breatheable earpads, bass tone reproduction with a volume
and open sound only achievable with superior dynamic models is possible.
Designed with prolonged use and ease of repair in mind
So as to make repairs and future upgrades possible, almost every part has been designed in such a way
that they can be disassembled, ensuring that the product can be used for many years following purchase.
A machined aluminum magnesium alloy housing
To establish AFDS, an extremely high level of precision compared to typical driver units is necessary. 
Because of this, the machined aluminum magnesium alloy housing has been machined with great precision. 
By applying the kind of leather coating finish used with high-quality cameras, we've also taken measures against minute vibrations.
Manufactured at our own factory, this model espouses precision.
The D8000 model is manufactured at our head office in Kawasaki.Together with the precision of individual parts, the precision involved in the assembly process depends on the precision of the tools known as jigs
that assist in the assembly process.So as to be able to fine-tune even the slightest of irregularities in jig precision during the assembly process, we design and manufacture production jigs and measurement jigs ourselves.

We developed manufacturing apparatus such as a diaphragm formation machine and a diaphragm tension meter in-house, specifically for the D8000.

To create truly good products, it is necessary to get to the core of the manufacturing process of parts close to the raw material. What is good about "made in Japan" is that when doing so, you can gain the cooperation of those manufacturers close to the material. By contolling everything together, from sourcing the raw materials through to the assembly of the product, we have achieved high-quality products.
Newly-developed detachable cable
We've developed a new cable for the D8000. Two kinds of cable are included – a 3.5mm mini plug type (1.5m) and a 6.3mm standard plug type (3m).
Newly-developed headphone stand
Final developed a headphone stand, for the D8000, the first such stand created by final. While compact, it is made entirely of machined aluminum. It is a stand for exclusive long-term use with the D8000.
Newly-developed open type earpads
With not only sealed headphones but open-type headphones as well, sealing the earpads makes for
a characteristic lengthening of reproduction frequency to bass frequencies that the driver unit originally couldn't reproduce. However, for the high-quality expression of the natural spread of bass frequencies
the source sound originally has, it is necessary for the driver unit itself to have the ability to reproduce bass frequencies, and also to use breatheable earpads that are not tightly sealed. With all conventional planar magnetic models and many dynamic models, there is a lack in terms of bass frequencies with earpads
that are not tightly sealed.

With D8000, the reproduction band of bass frequencies has been extended through AFDS, and it has become possible to sufficiently reproduce bass frequencies even with earpads that are not sealed tightly just
with driver unit ability. The earpads that great influence sound quality have been newly developed specially
for D8000 from highly-breatheable foam and specialized fibers.

So as to achieve a superior fit where it is hard to create a space, we've employed synthetic leather, which has an equal amount of flexibility both horizontally and vertically, and have chosen a sponge with just the right amount of flexibility. Establishing apertures on the inside and the outside of the ear pads makes for clear sound quality
with sealed headphones.
BAM mechanism that realizes bass tones and deep three-dimensional space reproduction
A BAM (Balancing Air Movement) mechanism developed for balanced armature drivers has been employed with a dynamic driver. With BAM, the idea is to optimize the pressure balance between the front and back of the diaphragm. With SONOROUS II, we've applied even more precise tuning based on knowledge obtained through the development of SONOROUS VIII and SONOROUS X.

* What is a BAM mechanism?
At final, we decided to focus on developing technology for the reproduction of bass tones and three-dimensional space with the full-range reproduction of a theoretically unproblematic single driver unit, rather than taking things in a multiway direction. We went back to the beginning and reviewed the performance of the balanced armature driver, focusing our attention on something we had previously overlooked ? airflow inside the housing. We developed BAM (Balancing Air Movement), a mechanism that optimizes airflow inside the housing through the creation of an aperture in the driver unit, which is usually sealed. While achieving bass tones and deep, three-dimensional spatial representation, which proved difficult with single driver full-range reproduction, we achieved a BA type that at the same time made for natural listening the user doesn't tire of.
Rigid ABS housing with a rough coating
To achieve a high level of precision with the hard ABS housing, simulations were carried out until the appropriate level of fluidity with respect to the molding material was achieved. A textured finish that is also used with high-grade camera lenses is applied, and unnecessary vibrations are suppressed.
Titanium diaphragm driver unit is integrated into the front plate
With SONOROUS X, the flagship model of the SONOROUS series, we integrated the driver unit with the front plate, and this suppresses resonance as well as realizing clear sound quality. The housing employs hard resin comprised of hard polycarbonate strengthened with 30% glass added to it. Resonance is suppressed and clear sound quality is achieved. Titanium has been employed for the diaphragm. This plays a role in enhancing resolution and the generation of high frequency harmonic overtones.
Detachable cable with locking function
A metal plated monaural plug with a diameter of 3.5mm is employed for the connector on the headphones. By employing a connector with a long track record, trouble resulting from poor connection through changes over time is avoided. This is a cable with a locking mechanism that rotates 90 degrees.

Balanced armature driver unit developed by our company for optimal use as a tweeter. We've paid special attention to our choice of materials used in our pursuit of sound quality, utilizing a permalloy with a high level of magnetic permeability in the magnetic circuit.
Newly developed 50 mm φ dynamic driver
A driver unit with a diameter of 50mm, newly designed for SONOROUS. By increasing the precision of the parts, it has become possible to make the gap between the magnetic circuit, the pole piece and the yoke narrower than with common products. A powerful neodymium magnet is coupled with this,
making for a high magnetic flux density. The result is clear sound quality.

We've re-examined the shape of the tangential edge and have employed a lightweight diaphragm with a heightened responsiveness to micro-signals.

The voice coil is copper-clad aluminum wire CCAW. Clear, crisp bass tones are achieved with the combination of a magnetic circuit with a high driving force and a light vibration system.

So as not to inhibit the sound emanating from the driver unit, and so that there is no unnecessary added reverberation, a form that is as slim yet as strong as possible has been pursued. This contributes to clear
sound quality.

What plays an important part in sound quality is the fit between the user's ear and the ear pad. If there is space between the two, then bass tones are lost; if the ear pad presses against the user's ear with too much pressure, then apart from it being uncomfortable, the acoustic pressure of the bass tones rise too high, resulting in negative influences on sound quality. In spite of this, there was no evolution seen in the ear pads on the market, and they continued to be made using the same structure for many years.

We got engineers who had been involved in the development of corsets to participate in developing our ear pads, and re-examined the fit between the user's ear and the ear pad. By employing the appropriate technology – pursuing synthetic leather with the best elasticity and the best sponge cutting and adopting ultrasound fusion for the adhesion of the synthetic leather to the inner frame – we constructed an unwrinkled, three-dimensional form with just the right amount of tension to it.
Aluminum back plate
A 1.5mm thick aluminum back plate at the back of the driver unit for achieving air pressure balance. Not only air pressure balance but also great results in the suppression of unnecessary vibrations are manifested.
Rigid ABS housing with matt coating
To achieve a high level of precision with the hard matt-finished ABS housing used with high-grade camera lenses, we conducted a substantial number of simulations, right up to the fluidity of the molding
material used.
Detachable cable with locking function
We employed a gold-plated monaural plug with a 3.5mm diameter for the connector on the headphones. By employing a connector with a long-standing performance record, we avoided any trouble resulting from poor contact owing to deterioration due to aging. Machined stainless steel housing
In combination with the ABS housing is the machined stainless steel housing that reduces unnecessary vibrations. To demonstrate maximum results, it is necessary that both are machined with the utmost accuracy, and as such, the stainless steel has also been machined. The surface is finished with the tool marks from the machining process left as is. They are machined domestically at a leading specialty machining factory. Taking sufficient time and using extremely finely edged tools, this careful manufacturing is teeming with the knowhow of Japanese craftspeople.

A BAM (Balancing Air Movement) mechanism developed for balanced armature drivers has been employed with a dynamic driver. With BAM, the idea is to optimize the pressure balance between the front and back of the diaphragm. To thoroughly follow through with this idea, SONOROUS VIII is sealed so that no air leaks from inside the housing.

* What is a BAM mechanism?
At final, we decided to focus on developing technology for the reproduction of bass tones and three-dimensional space with the full-range reproduction of a theoretically unproblematic single driver unit, rather than taking things in a multiway direction. We went back to the beginning and reviewed the performance of the balanced armature driver, focusing our attention on something we had previously overlooked ? airflow inside the housing. We developed BAM (Balancing Air Movement), a mechanism that optimizes airflow inside the housing through the creation of an aperture in the driver unit, which is usually sealed. While achieving bass tones and deep, three-dimensional spatial representation, which proved difficult with single driver full-range reproduction, we achieved a BA type that at the same time made for natural listening the user doesn't tire of.
Machined aluminum housing + titanium diaphragm driver unit
A driver unit is an object that is usually made of molded ABS. With SONOROUS VIII, we've used machined aluminum for the housing of the driver unit. We've suppressed the resonance and distortion caused by the amplitude of the driver unit and have achieved clear sound with little blur. 

Having tested a variety of materials for the diaphragm, we employed titanium, which emits a well-balanced sound over a wide bandwidth. To accurately assemble the titanium diaphragm, we developed specialty jigs and assembly equipment.
Rigid ABS housing with textured finish
To achieve a high level of accuracy with the extremely hard, texture casting finished ABS housing, which is also used with high grade camera lenses, simulations were carried out until the appropriate level of fluidity with respect to the molding materials was achieved. Realizing high circularity led to the realization of a highly accurate fit with the machined stainless housing. To put the concept of reducing unnecessary vibrations through the combination of different materials with different resonance points into practice, ingenuity has also been exercised in those sections that are not readily visible.
Ear pads with a comfortable fit and optimal "suppleness"
Ear pads play a very important role in sound quality. One of these roles relates to the matter of fitting. When there is space between the ear and the ear pad, low-level acoustic pressure changes considerably and has significant influence on sound quality. Because of this, the choice of both ear pads and the sponge material inside them is important. Another aspect is that they are a component that changes greatly over time; with this aging, the sound from the headphones changes in a favorable direction as they are used, and changes in the shape of the ear pad are also a large contributing factor. The ear pad molding itself to the shape of the ear is a positive change, but any excessive change after this may mean a diversion from favorable sound.

With this, trial listening and comfortable contact with the ear in mind, and with the same amount of stretch both vertically and horizontally, synthetic leather, which changes just the right amount with time,
has been employed.
Detachable cable with locking mechanism
For the connector on the headphones, a 3.5mm diameter gold-plated monaural plug has been employed. 
By employing a connector with a lengthy track record, trouble with loose connections has been avoided. 
The cable has a 90-degree rotary locking mechanism. 1.5m and 3m cables are included.
Machined stainless steel housing

Integrated machined aluminum front plate and housing + titanium diaphragm driver unit
Usually, the driver unit housing is made of ABS. The driver unit is produced independently, and is attached to the front plate, which is made of the same ABS. The section where the two are attached along with the ABS resin flex and resonate with the amplitude of the driver unit. With SONOROUS X, machining the driver unit and the front plate as an integrated unit from the same piece of aluminum magnesium alloy made it possible to reduce the instabilities that adversely affected sound quality such as resonance and deflection, as well as those arising due to the fit of the adhesive. Doing so resulted in the actualization of crystal clear sound.

Machined aluminum housing
We employed a housing machined from a piece of aluminum magnesium alloy. As with high-end speakers, 
it contributes to the kind of clear sound that is emitted only from packed solid housings. Layering it over 
a stainless steel housing whose resonance point differs means that resonance is suppressed without using soft damping materials that dull sound such as rubber.
